About Karen Angela Hobbs
As a young child, growing up on a farm in a small town, I knew one day my dream of being a nurse would come true. As I grew older, those goals I had set for my life grew to become a provider. I have always loved taking care of people and seeing progression in their healing. Currently, I hold an Associate degree in Psychology and a BSN in nursing. I am working towards my life goal to be a provider by obtaining my MSN/FNP through King University.
I possess 17 years of progressive experience in the nursing field. My professional history includes such positions as office LPN at Healthstar Physicians, in which I took vital signs, checked the patient in, administered IM, subcutaneous, and intradermal shots and vaccines of various kinds, carried out MD orders, made appointments, called in prescriptions, and discharged the patients with MD instructions. As an LPN on the Med-Surg and ICU units at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital, my job duties included medication administration, assessments, IV administrations, and telemetry monitoring. As an LPN at Regency Retirement Village, I was the evening shift charge nurse, and administered medications to residents on the second floor. As an LPN at Hometown Home Health Care, I was responsible for home visits with patients and close monitoring of health conditions and medications, along with assessments, education, and lab draws. As a Registered nurse at Morristown Hamblen Hospital, I worked on the Geri-Psych unit where I did daily assessments of my patients, collaborated with the Psychiatrist and the Primary Care/Geriatric MD, and devised POC for each patient. I also passed medication, did admissions and discharges, and helped the patients with ADL's. At Ballad Hawkins County Hospital, I was the charge nurse on both the night shift and the day shift on Med/Surg, IMU, and ICU. I delegated assignments daily, trained new employees, and carried a patient load daily, where I administered medications, started and maintained IVs and IV medications, assisted patients with ADLs, charted, did admissions and discharges, and maintained the on-call phone. I am currently the weekend house supervisor at The Heritage Center of Morristown. I delegate assignments and do advanced physical assessments when the nurses feel a resident is declining. I maintain the on call-phone, start IVs and maintain medication administration of IV meds. I tend to family and/or resident complaints and issues.

My husband and I have been married for 5 years and we have an extended blended family. Together we have 6 children, who are all grown and living on their own. We pride ourselves in having 7 wonderful, and uniquely individual grandchildren.

Looking forward, I am extremely excited to practice in my hometown and provide excellent care to my community.
