Essential 1

Background for Practice from Sciences & Humanities

This essential integrates findings from nursing, humanities, biophysical fields, genetics, public health, quality improvement, health economics, translational sciences, and organizational sciences for the continual improvement of nursing care.

I feel I met these requirements by diving into the genetic and public health aspects of nursing. Doing these specific assignments helped me to understand my strengths and how important continued growth as a provider is; not only to my patients but to myself as well. These assignments include my Alzheimer's research paper on the Pathophysiology of the disease and research on a family history form I did on a patient under my care. These assignments prepared me on how to be a public educator and how to help decrease familial health issues.

Essential 1: About

Background for Practice from Sciences and Humanities

Additional assignments I decided to use to meet my competency for this essential include my Reflective Philosophy Paper from Theory, and Discussion Board posts from Pharmacology. The Personal Philosophy paper allowed me to set goals for my future and to understand what being a provider is. These are goals I'll continue to strive to reach every day. The Discussion Board post has been helpful for me, because they allow me to research and educate myself about different medications I will use in my practice.
